If a person is driving alone in a car, then also mask is compulsory in Delhi. (Delhi High Court said today), the COVID rules will apply in any vehicle in a public place. The court said that the mask is a “(safety covering) Suraksha Kavach for all the person who wears it".
Pratibha M Singh (Judge) said that people who are even driving alone if seen not wearing a mask will be fined.
The Pratibha M Singh said: "Even if you are alone in the car, why object to wearing a mask? It is for your safety," and also added "The pandemic crisis has increased. Whether a person is vaccinated or not, they should wear masks."
To be safe against the COVID-19 everyone has to follow the least said Pratibha M Singh, take the advice of governments worldwide, and scientists.
If the car drivers have to roll down their window when the car stopped at a traffic signal. The coronavirus is so contagious that even in that time, anyone can be infected, said the court.
Saurabh Sharma (Lawyer) with the 3 petitioners who talked with the court for challenging the fine of RS-500, when he was driving the car he was forced to pay the amount of fine because he was alone and driving without a mask so the Delhi Police stopped his car.
Union Health Ministry said to the High Court that no rules for the lone driver that they have to wear a mask. But every state had its own rights to make their own enforce and rules for them, declared by the ministry
The government of Delhi AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) argued for the favor of masks, it is compulsory in public and private vehicles. Last year in April an order was also passed related to it.
For petitioner pointed out despite the rule of the Delhi government, around the same time in a press conference the UHM (Union Health Ministry) said that for the person who is driving alone then wearing a mask is not necessary.
More than two petitioners were also charged a fine of Rs- 500. They also asked for the damages of mental harassment.
After a day when Delhi reported 5,100 cases for coronavirus in a single day, the court order comes.
In India, the COVID cases cross over the 1.15 lakh new cases has been recorded in a single day (24 hours).
