BREAKING NEWS: INDONESIA GOT BADLY HIT BY FLASH FLOODS AND LANDSLIDES

On Sunday, in eastern Indonesia, flash floods and landslides were triggered, by torrential rain hours in Indonesia's easternmost province it swept an island. At least 44 people were reported dead.

"There are 44 people dead with nine injured" in East Flores regency, and "many are still under the mud", National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesperson Raditya Jati told AFP.

Hours before the celebration of Easter, this disaster happened. Mud started to overload at houses. While the eastern end of the island roads and bridges were destroyed.

National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesperson Raditya Jati said that rescuers were struggling to reach the remote and worst-hit area in East Flores regency. "The only access there is by the sea from Adonara Island, but the rains -- as well as strong waves -- have prevented any crossing," on Sunday, Jati told AFP. He also added that the same kind of weather will continue in the coming week.

Two people got killed in the neighboring province of West Nusa Tenggara, in Bima city due to major floods. According to the disaster agency, in Bima, four subdistrict's dams also got overflowed and submerged nearly 10,000 homes, said Jati.

During the rainy season, across the Indonesian archipelago flash, floods and landslides are very common. The Indonesian town of Sumedang in West Java got damaged by the flash floods in January, and it had also killed 40 people. In Borneo, at least 11 people got killed in landslides last September. A few months earlier, in Sulawesi, many people died in landslides. Over 125 million Indonesians, nearly half of the country's populations live in areas that are at risk of landslides, Indonesia's disaster agency has evaluated this.
