1,000 PEOPLE WERE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 IN LAST 48 HR AT MAHA KUMBH MELA


In the Maha Kumbh Mela at Haridwar, the place started the testing for COVID-19, and over 1,278 people were tested positive for the COVID-19 on 10th April. On Tuesday nine people were tested positive and the same number (nine) were positive on Wednesday according to CMO (Chief Medical Officer) Dr. SK Jha. Adding the RT-PCR reports of the tested was done in the Kumbh Mela to the people who visit on 13 April and 14 April.

In the world’s biggest festival, India has hundreds of positive cases of COVID-19, officials said on Wednesday, because of the huge crowds with mask-less people.


In the city of Haridwar, the virus has risen up more than 1,000 people in the past 48hr, officials said. 


The second wave of the COVID-19 infections is sweeping in India, and the people are blaming the religious event, gathering in a family program, and the political rallies in the states. 


The exam of the High school was postponed on Wednesday for 15 to 18 years old students, it was held in May-June for the rise cases of the COVID-19.

 

A member of Kumbh Mela committees Siddharth Chakrapani told to the AFP: "Our faith is the biggest thing for us. It is because of that strong belief that so many people have come here to take a dip in Ganga."


"They believe that Maa (mother) Ganga will save them from this pandemic."


In Haridwar, the number of samples taken from the people around 50,000 on Monday, 408 people were positive for the COVID-19, and on Tuesday 594 were tested positive, said by the Uttarakhand state government.

 

Yogi Adityanath Chief Minister of the neighboring state Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday also tweeted that he had tested positive for COVID.
