Information About The First “Oxygen Express”

Seven Empty tankers left for Vishakhapatnam where they'll be loaded with the liquid oxygen brought by "oxygen experience” and transported to Maharashtra, the central railway (CR) said.

According to Central Railway. The RO-RO(roll-on-roll-off) services with seven empty tankers are en route to Vishakhapatnam steel plant from Kalamboli goods yards which is about 40km from Navi Mumbai, at 8.05 pm.

The tankers will be loaded with liquid medical oxygen at the Vishakapatnam steel plant and then brought to Maharashtra which facing an extreme shortage of the life-saving gas needed for the treatment of critical Covid 19.

Yesterday, the Ro-Ro service with the seven empty tankers was left from Kalamboli, Maharashtra to Viraj. 

“Oxygen Express will move via a green corridor for loading with Liquid Medical Oxygen, railway minister Piyush Goyal tweeted.

 A ramp was made by the CR division within 24hr at kalamboli goods yard to manage the loading and unloading of tankers in/from flat wagons the release said. 

Sources said that Mr. Anil Parab the transport minister of Maharashtra was also present when the train left for the port city in Andhra Pradesh. 

Railways announced that the “oxygen express” will run for few days to meet the shortage of oxygen cylinders and liquid medical oxygen across the country.Empty tankers will be loaded from Vishakhapatnam, Jamshedpur, Rourkela, and Bokaro for supply all over the country. 

Due to the rising cases of coronavirus, the demand for medical oxygen in the country has gone through roof.
