MAHARASHTRA WEEKEND LOCKDOWN WILL START TODAY



After observing an increase in daily Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, a "strict lockdown" has been declared over the weekends by the state government. From today the weekend lockdown will start, from 8 P.M. till Monday 7 A.M.


The state government has also declared a night curfew in the state. It will start from 8 P.M. to 7 A.M. daily. During the night curfew, only the essential services will be accepted to function. 


The gathering of five or more people throughout the day has been banned by Section 144.

Chief Minister's Office said that these new restrictions will stay in effect till 30th April.


Things That Will Be Closed:

  • Till 30th April all the beaches will be closed.
  • Except for financial services all the private offices will remain closed, people can do their work from home.
  • All the shopping malls and marketplaces will be closed, exce3pt for the essential services like vegetables, medicines, and groceries.
  • Restaurants and bars will be closed. Between 7 A.M. and 8 P.M., home delivery and takeaway will be allowed.
  • Movie theaters, swimming pools, and auditoriums will be closed.
  • Hair salons, spas, and beauty parlors will remain closed. 
  • Worship places will also remain closed. 


Things That Will Remain Open:

  • Between 7 A.M. to 8 P.M. parcel services will be allowed for the street vendors.
  • Public and private transport will be operated. But in public transports like taxis, rickshaws and private vehicles, will only run with 50% sitting capacity.
  • Newspaper printing and distribution will continue their services but the vendor should be vaccinated. 
  • Between 7 A.M. to 8 P.M., E-commerce services will continue to operate. But the delivery staff should be vaccinated.
  • Up to 50% attendance, government offices will get run.
  • Movie shoots are allowed but without involving crowds. Present from 10 April it is compulsory for everyone to test negative RT-PCR.
  • The manufacturing sector can also continue their work but need to take all the precautions. Construction and Industrial operations will also be allowed. 


In Maharashtra on Thursday, 56,286 new Covid-19 cases were reported. It took the whole caseload up to 32,29,547, in which there are 376 deaths. Due to the infection increased to 57,028, the health department said. 


The state had recorded the highest daily count of a total of 59,907 Covid-19 cases and 32 deaths. 

In Maharastra, the Covid-19 recovery rate now stands at 82.05%, while the death rate is 1.77.

There are a total of 27,02,613 people in-home quarantine and a total of 22,661 in institutional quarantine.

In the state, the total number of active cases is 5,21,317.
