Parineeti Chopra Is Doing Biopic Of Saina Nehwal On Her Upcoming Movie “SAINA”

The upcoming movie “Saina” dropped its trailer on the internet on (International Women’s Day), 8th March (2021), the movie Saina is based on the life story of the badminton champ Saina Nehwal. After getting shelved multiple times in the past, now Saina is also ready for the meeting of the project.

Shraddha Kapoor agreed to play the titular role in the movie, the project was first announced in 2017. But, when she backed out from the project, it suffered a road-block. Later, Parineeti Chopra was roped in (2019) to play the role. Gupte confirmed the support of producer Bhushan Kumar, who held on to the movie even when it was heading to put on the back burner. 

The first half of the trailer shows that how Saina’s parents help her to fulfill her dream and how a girl from a small village in Haryana dreams of becoming the world’s no 1 badminton player.

The second half of the trailer shows that before she came into the game with full force and proved herself as one of the top badminton players how much difficulty and obstacles that Saina Nehwal faced.

Parineeti Chopra shared the trailer on social media and wrote: “This women’s day I am proud to bring to you - SAINA. In cinemas March 26”.

While playing the role of Saina Nehwal onscreen, Parineeti Chopra said in a statement: “It’s a huge responsibility to essay someone like Saina Nehwal on screen. She is a legend herself and I was very scared about how people will react, but I’m overwhelmed with the love we are getting from all over the world. The film is a celebration of the unending spirit that lies in each woman”.

The movie directed by Amol Gupte (SAINA) Parineeti has done a great job in the biopic Saina Nehwal feels that and said in a statement: “Everything is quite surreal. What I have achieved in life is all due to the constant support of my family. It has been my huge honor to play a sport I love and put my country on a pedestal while achieving my dream. Parineeti is a fabulous actor and, we both connected so easily when we met”.

Amol Gupte told reporters in Mumbai: “I cannot forget the solid, rock-like support of Bhushan Kumar. The film was about to be shelved four times. He would ask me, ‘Don’t we have to (make the film)? I’m here’. “That’s the strength of the man who stood behind me. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have reached this (stage) today”.

Amol Gupte said: His last feature was “Sniff”. Now, after four-years, Gupte’s returned to the director's seat by directing “SAINA.” Previously, the director has introduced famous movies like the “Stanley Ka Dabba” hit in (2011) and the sports-drama “Hawa Hawai” hit in (2014). Amol Gupte started thinking about the film “SAINA” when producer Suraj Jairaj approached him after buying rights to Nehwal’s life story to a screen shift in 2015. The director added, “Imagine the quantity of emotion in a life story where a simple lower-middle-class father and mother from Haryana bring up a girl who becomes Worlds No 1 player. It had a lot of emotions”.

“If there’s harmony in a family, the ups and downs of emotions can be recorded, observed, put on paper like a poet, a playwright, lyricist, or a filmmaker. “I never marketed my life. I am not making a product but films, which are my passion…” Amol added. The film also stars Meghna Malik and Manav Kaul, The schedule of “SAINA” is released on 26 March (2021).
