COVID-19 LIVE UPDATE - 1 April 21
On Thursday, India has launched the third phase of Coronavirus vaccination. The government has announced that the immunization process will be conducted in the whole month of April, including holidays. It will be conducted in all public and private centers. In the third phase of vaccination, people above the age of 45 are qualified to receive the vaccine. Above the age of 45, people have the highest risk. In India, 90% of deaths related to COVID-19 are those above the age of 45.
In 24 hours, India reported over 72,000 COVID-19 cases. Since 11 October 2020, it's the highest daily spike of COVID. From 72,330 new cases. Maharashtra reported 39,544 cases, Chhattisgarh reported 4,563 cases, and Karnataka reported over 4,000 cases.
Across the country, 459 deaths were reported. It was the highest since 5 December 2020. Maharastra reported 243 deaths, Punjab reported 55 deaths, Chhattisgarh reported 39 deaths, Karnataka reported 26 deaths and Tamil Nadu reported 19 deaths. These states were the big contributors to the death rate. Over 14 states reported zero deaths.
In India, there are over 1 crore and 22 lakh cases. While the death rate is over 1.62 lakh.
