Guilty: #MeToo Movement Failure

Guilty is one of the first movies to be based on #MeToMovement. It was released around the verge of #MeToMovement. Viewers had a very high expectation of the movie but it failed to stand on those expectations.

The storyline of Guilty rotates around multiple characters. The story is set in Delhi University and portrays all kinds of negative vibe. Kiara Advani plays the role of a college student named Nanki Dutta. She is a rebel portraying colored extensions and tattoos and writes songs for the college band. Her VJ boyfriend is played by Gurfateh Singh Pirzada, who is also the lead vocalist of the band. Turn of events takes place when a small-town girl named Tanu accuses him of rape in a Twitter post using the hashtag #Metoo that took place on the night of Valentine's Day.
Chaos went among everyone as everyone was trying to remember the incident details of that night. Everyone was putting up with their own respective versions of the incident in front of the lawyers and, the blame game was on.

The movie failed to lay an impact on the audience with its script. It could have been an amazing women-centric movie with a concrete foundation of #Metoo, as it was written and directed by women.
