One of the two charter planes which are transporting New Zealand’s IPL participants back home has already been departed from India, and the other one will leave this evening NZ time being delayed for logistical reasons.

All those players and other people available in the flight have been and would be observing all the prescribed pre-departure and all the in-flights protocols, including all sort of Covid-19 related tests, social distancing, mask-wearing, and the best practice which is hygiene, and would again be assessing same on arrival to Auckland.

Once Tim Seifert has been gone for the treatment and the statutory period of isolation and he has been tested negative for his Covid-19 test, he will be sent back to New Zealand where he will be going for 14 days of quarantine which is mandatory after he reaches his country.

Now he is been waiting for his transfer to Chennai, where he would be treated in the same private hospital in which the former Australian player Micheal Hussey has been staying and been treating for Covid-19 since he has been tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week.

New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White said that Tim Seifert has been returned to seven negative tests in the last 10 days leading up to his pre-departure protocols and he was very much confident that he will be getting the best care from his franchise side.

"It's really unfortunate for Tim and we'll do everything for him that we can from this end, and hopefully he will be able to test negative and be cleared and approved for discharge as soon as he's well again,” David White said in his official statement.

He also added, “Since receiving the news, we've organized support for Tim and have also - via the players association, been in contact with his family to ensure they're kept fully informed and updated on developments.”

David White was also very grateful to BCCI and the IPL franchises for arranging the charter flights and all sorts of medical assistance.

There has also been a change to all the arrangements for New Zealand’s Uk-bound test contingent, along with Kane Williamson, Mitchell Santner, Kyle Jamieson, and the physio Tommy Simsek, getting transferred to the Maldives (rather than staying in Delhi) moving ahead for traveling to England.

This decision has been made to transfer this group to the Maldives after the advice for their entry in the UK, initially thought has to be about 11th of May, has been likely to be delayed till the next week.

Meanwhile, postponing the tournament on Tuesday, the BCCI secretary also mentioned that the Indian Board did not want to compromise regarding the safety of those who have been a part of the Indian Premier League.

Jay Shah has also mentioned, “Since receiving the news, we've organized support for Tim and have also - via the players association, been in contact with his family to ensure they're kept fully informed and updated on developments.”
