FLIPKART TIES UP WITH ADANI GROUP
Flipkart, one of India's largest e-commerce firms, has announced a strategic and commercial partnership with the Gujarat-based Adani Group. It will enhance its power to serve the enlarged base of customers and will strengthen its supply chain infrastructure.
A press release said that Flipkart will work with Adani Logistics Limited, it's the largest diversified end-to-end logistics service provider in the country and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Limited, to strengthen its supply chain infrastructure.
Now, Flipkart will establish its third data center at Adaniconnex Private Limited, a Chennai-based facility. It's a new joint venture between EdgeConneX and Adani Enterprises Limited.
“Homegrown e-commerce giant Flipkart is our new strategic partner. In the two-prong partnership, AdaniConneX will build their new Tier 4 data centre and Adani Logistics, India's leader in logistics, will build their 534,000 sqft fulfillment centre. Thousands of new jobs in Mumbai,” tweeted Gautam Adani’, announcing the deal.
In Mumbai, a new fulfillment centre will be opened, which is spread across 5.34 lakh sq. ft. as per the deal.
“As part of this partnership, Adani Logistics Limited will construct a massive 534,000 sq. ft. fulfillment center in its upcoming logistics hub in Mumbai that will be leased to Flipkart to address the growing demand for e-commerce in Western India and support market access of several thousands of sellers and MSMEs in the region,” it is according to a jointly-released press note.
In the third quarter of 2022, the center is expected to start functioning. It will have a capacity of about 10 million units of seller's inventory.
The company is looking forward to increasing the local employment and create of a total of 2,500 direct jobs and about a thousand indirect jobs, to strengthen Flipkart's supply chain infrastructure.
Flipkart will strengthen its e-commerce business in India. Flipkart will originate its third data center at AdaniConnecX Chennai facility, in the country, it will be a part of one of the largest private cloud deployments.
“The AdaniConneX data centre is a brand-new facility enabling Flipkart to design the data centre to its growing infrastructure needs with a significant focus on security and keeping data locally within India,” the statement added.
